About Our Business
"Thompson Tech" as we are known locally, was formed on the basis of
service first. We strive to supply first quality service on all our first
quality products. We only supply and service quality products and have
an excellent track record servicing the mining, logging and construction
industry.
We will do everything possible to make you a satisfied customer!!
Thompson Technicians Ltd. was started in 1988 to serve the local
logging industry. We moved into the mining industry in 1992 and
bought out the local "Tamrock" building in 1994.
We started with the rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, engines
transmissions, axle and brake assemblies.
In 1996 we teamed up with Teledyne CM (now B.T.I.) and started
stocking and servicing rockbreaker and utility equipment parts. We
later became a full line distributor for them, and now have the largest
stock of parts in Canada for this line.
We have a complete machine shop, hydraulic test bench, and
cylinder assembly bench, capable of testing hydraulic cylinders up to
16 inches in diameter and up to 45 feet long. We have had formal
training on hydraulic sealing systems and have the largest hydraulic
seal inventory in the north. With our machine shop and our large
inventory, we are normally able to rebuild your cylinders in one day!
We have a "brush plating" technology that is approved by the US
military, to repair your damaged hydraulic cylinder rods. This system is
very expensive and rare, and is approved by major equipment
manufacturers. We can save you thousands of dollars on the cost of
replacing your damaged rods and other metal components. We have
used this electrolysis method of building up metal on several cast and
steel components with excellent results.
Of course if your rod is badly damaged, we have a very large stock of
standard and metric rods.
We are factory trained on Clark, Ford-New Holland, Rockwell, and
John Deere axle assemblies.
We are factory trained on all BTI rockbreaker assemblies, including
the overhaul of booms, hydraulic systems, and hydraulic hammers.
We also supply and service diesel generator sets for the Boreas
Project. This involves us travelling off the highway, by ATV, ten
kilometers to service these sites for Harvard University, University of
Winnipeg, and NASA.
